More about rewards and donations

I have been struggling between me and myself about whether to include a “Donations” page on this website or not.

I have read a lot about donations in blogs and websites and there seems to be two different streams of thoughts: one states that asking for donations is like begging as it would be cheesy, cheeky or rude and inappropriate by those who are not homeless or in real need. The other says that you deserve to be rewarded for your hard work and good content you deliver (also considering this is very often done during one’s free time); that you ought to charge for your products and services otherwise – should everyone work for free – the industry will be already dead.

Then there are those who “I will never ever ever give my money to a blogger” and those who have a “why not?” attitude instead.

My culture and upbringing sympathizes and clashes with both visions above. There is something right and something shrill in both philosophies so it was difficult to take a decision about whether to include a donation page or not.

Eventually, I have come up to a solution which put my soul at peace: a reward page.

In other words, if you – casual reader or regular visitor – want to do a good deed, then find yourself a good cause and make a donation to any charity of your choice. There are so many out there in the world which do terrific jobs dealing with disturbing situations the rest of the world does not do enough about.

Instead, if you are pleased with me, my work and/or use my plugins and aim to reward me, then please do so below by using the “reward me” button. By rewarding me with any free amount you think it is worth it or you can afford, you also give me a sign I should go on in this direction.

Should you decide to reward me or not, please comment this post or send me a note to share your vision with me. Thanks.
